Getting Started
Welcome to the Fellows guide for lowFAT.
lowFAT (Low Effort Fellowship Administration Tool) is the Software Sustainability Institute’s (SSI) platform for managing your Fellowship activities. You can use it to submit funding requests, claim expenses, manage your profile, and track your outputs such as blog posts.
If you are new to the system, this page will help you get started with accessing your account and understanding the first steps.

System Requirements
lowFAT is accessed through a web browser and does not require any additional software installation.
We recommend using an up-to-date version of:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Edge
- Safari
You will also need internet access. Some parts of lowFAT, such as funding requests and expense claims, may require uploading files including receipts, PDFs, or images.

lowFAT is hosted at:
https://fellows.software.ac.uk/
Please bookmark this address for easy access.
Logging in
To access lowFAT:
- Click “Sign in” (not “Sign in with GitHub”)
- Enter your login credentials provided by the Software Sustainability Institute (SSI)
- Click “Login”
